Larry P. Bleier DMD, Board Certified Specialist in Periodontics

Dr. Larry P. Bleier received his Dental Degree (D.M.D.) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. After two years as a general dentist in the U.S. Air Force, he returned to Boston and was appointed to a two year Clinical Fellowship in Periodontology at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Bleier was also appointed Resident in Periodontology at the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Roxbury, Massachusetts and at the V.A. Boston Outpatient Clinic.

Periodontics is the dental specialty that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of gum disease. After diagnosis, the goal of periodontal therapy is to preserve the dentition in a state of health, comfort, and function with appropriate esthetics. Periodontal Disease has been shown to be the number one reason for tooth loss, and a contributing factor in medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, heart attacks, diabetes, respiratory disease, strokes, cancer, osteoporosis, dementia in aging and low birth weight babies. He utilizes a full range of both surgical and non-surgical periodontal procedures including scaling and root planning, anti-microbial therapy, gingival grafts, cosmetic gingival and periodontal plastic surgery, bone growth enhancement grafts to help restore the bone supporting structures of the teeth that are lost by the periodontal disease process, occlusal (bite) diagnosis and occlusal therapy, osseous surgery, ridge augmentation, frenectomies, root coverage procedures, enamel shaping procedures, oral medicine, oral pathology diagnosis and biopsies as well as Nobel Biocare Implants. Dr. Bleier is also versed in the Pinhole Technique and Periodontal Laser Gum Disease Therapy and Treatment.
